Donate to support PETA India’s sterilisation programme and all the work we do for animals!

Dear Friend,

Dogs Faby, Siya, and John languished in a breeder’s cages without food for days. The three dogs had all been forced to produce litter after litter of “pedigree” puppies and thereby contribute to the animal-overpopulation crisis.

When PETA India’s rescue team first met the dogs, all three had severe tick infestations and were suffering from anaemia. India’s pet trade, supported by people who buy puppies and kittens from shops and breeders, often produce victims like these – depriving them of proper veterinary care, adequate food, exercise, affection, and socialisation.

Breeding animals when there are already too many unwanted animals languishing on the streets or in overburdened shelters condemns more to suffer from abandonment, abuse, starvation, and disease. Every time a puppy or kitten is born, a dog or cat desperately waiting in an animal shelter or roaming the streets loses a chance at finding a home.

PETA India is urging people to stop buying puppies and kittens. We encourage people to adopt a companion animal from the community or a shelter, instead. We are also working to spay and neuter dogs and cats across India – preventing millions from being born into lives of neglect and starvation.

Thank you for all you do for animals.
