About this event

A workshop for parent carers in the North East.

It can be challenging to cope with your child's communication needs. This online course gives the opportunity to hear other parents' experiences, learn new strategies and share as much or as little of your story as you wish.

This workshop will help you to think about how you can best communicate with your child and how you can share this knowledge with those in their education settings.

Written and delivered by Stephanie Carr, Clinical Lead Positive Behaviour Support and Speech and Language Therapist for North Yorkshire and York Adult Learning Disabilities Service. Stephanie is a Speech and Language Therapist, Positive Behavioural Support Practitioner and most importantly the sibling of a person with Autism. This workshop will focus on expanding our knowledge of Autism, considering why communication can be difficult and giving you some 'top tips' in supporting positive, meaningful communication between all members in your family home.

"The course was informative and easy to follow. It was delivered by not only a professional but someone that has personal experience of 25 years. I think it means so much more to parents like myself to have personal knowledge and experience."

This workshop will be held on Zoom. We can give advice on how to use this platform before the session is held, if you require this. Please direct any enquiries relating to your booking to ellie.goff@contact.org.uk
