Canada’s 44th federal election is officially underway, and we want to ensure all candidates across the country know how important it is to #TakeActionForMS. Can you spare 5 minutes to send a letter to the candidates in your riding, telling them about the priorities of the MS community?

Canada has one of the highest rates of multiple sclerosis in the world and we’re calling on the government to recognize this by making supports for people affected by MS in Canada among the best in the world. Please join us in this work by letting your candidates know it’s time for our government to:

Employment Security
Make work…work

Continue to update the EI sickness benefit by reducing the hours needed for eligibility from 600 to 400, by removing the one week waiting period, and by eliminating the clawback in the Working While on Claim provision.

Income Security
Make ends meet

Implement the Canada Disability Benefit to make direct payments to individuals who live with a disability, specifically including episodic disability as defined in the Accessible Canada Act.

icon

Access
Make access a reality

Accelerate current reforms to pharmaceutical policy (i.e., PMPRB, national pharmacare, national drug agency), and incorporate patient-centred perspectives to make access to MS treatments equitable, affordable and timely.

Create an age-appropriate care and housing approach in the COVID-19 recovery, including the perspective of adults under 65 with disabilities.

MS Research
Make MS research a priority

Invest critical funds in health research in partnership with health charities, invest in basic scientific research and connect with health charities like the MS Society of Canada to ensure the lived experience and the patient voice is paramount.
