Stop debt ruining lives – Reset the Debt!

Head shot photo of Rishi SunakCovid-19 has been the biggest shock of our generation. The past year has been stressful for all of us.

Already, the system wasn’t fair. Insecure jobs, wages that weren’t keeping up with the cost of living, and the government’s lack of a proper safety net pushed many people onto the breadline, even before the pandemic.

Covid-19 was the final straw. Millions more families have been plunged into difficulty, and forced to borrow money to make ends meet. 8.5 million people are now heavily in debt, a million more than before the crisis.

People who were previously able to keep their head above water are now having to navigate awful choices, between putting food on the table or keeping their heating on. Families, who had been just staying afloat, face being weighed down by rising unmanageable debts.

We’re all caught up in the same storm, but we’re not all in the same boat.

We have to protect the people we love the best we can. The unjust and unpayable debt must be cancelled.
