Take Action for MS

#TakeActionForMS is a campaign to reach out to MPs across Canada to let them know that today’s trying times resemble what it’s like to live with multiple sclerosis (MS) — every single day and that the time is now to change employment policy and support health charities. We ask you to send a message to your MP to #TakeActionForMS and share why it’s important to you, your family and community.

Ask your MP to contact the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, Minister of Health, and Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister to support these critical steps:

  • Extend the EI sickness benefit period from 15 to at least 26 weeks.
  • Support Canadian health charities with direct funding to continue the urgent supports they provide and sustain their critical health research.
People with MS want to work, but it can be challenging to do so. With more than 60% of people living with MS eventually reaching unemployment it’s clear that more flexibility is needed. Learn more about the recommendations in the Stakeholder Roundtable Report: Employment Insurance Sickness Benefit.
Now, more than ever, Canadians need support and connection to health charities to navigate their unrelenting challenges in an uncertain world. Health charities need you to voice your support for them to our federal government. As a result of COVID-19, Canadian health charities are reporting a devastating reduction in revenues paired with a high need for critical support and investments in sustaining research.
