For peat's sake - stop the destruction!

Peatlands are among the most carbon-rich habitats anywhere on Earth. But the way we treat them urgently needs to change.

Every year, the UK Government allows upland peatlands to be set on fire, damaging habitat which results in the release of an estimated 350,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. That's the equivalent of driving over 140,000 cars a year.

It’s not just our own peatlands that we’re degrading. We destroy precious habitats overseas by importing peat to use in gardens – and many of us don’t even realise we’re using it.

Say NO to burning protected upland peatlands.

Say NO to the sale of all peat based horticulture products.

Pop your details in below and click to sign our petition calling on the Government to use the England Peat Strategy to stop the destruction.
