The Fraser River Delta is a place of unparalleled natural abundance and rare ecological importance. It is a migration superhighway for endangered orcas, whale populations and millions of migratory birds, including Western Sandpiper, Dunlin, and Snow Geese and is the home of the already-threatened Barn Owl.
But the Delta is at risk.
A federal review panel recently concluded that the proposed mega-expansion of a shipping terminal at Roberts Bank would have significant adverse effects on the many species that depend on the Delta.
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to take pause and reflect on what we value as Canadians. When the time comes, the Canadian government must choose an economic and social recovery strategy that rebalances our relationship with nature—for the good of our economy, the health of our loved ones, and the natural places that underpin it all.
Add your name now and say no to the Roberts Bank terminal 2 expansion project and yes to an environmental plan for the Fraser Delta that safeguards the interests of wildlife and our collective wellbeing.
