Access for All: Pump Coverage in British Columbia and Alberta

We at JDRF Canada are concerned that British Columbians and Albertans living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) are increasingly unable to benefit from the newest and most advanced diabetes technologies under both BC’s and Alberta's current insulin pump program. Specifically, we believe that all British Columbians and Albertans living with T1D should have access to new devices such as the Medtronic MiniMed 670G advanced insulin pump and the Tandem Diabetes’ t:slim X2 insulin pump and we want your help to push politicans to cover these devices.

We value the importance of patients having choices in how they treat and manage this serious disease, and we believe that these devices represent an important next step towards a closed loop insulin system. We are calling on you to reach out to your provincial representatives to include these two devices in the BC Pharmacare program and the Alberta Insulin Pump Therapy Program, and fulfill their committment to British Columbians and Albertans who are living with T1D.
