Urge your highways authority to prioritise pavement repairs

Our pavements should be safe for all. And yet too many of them are neglected, worn out, damaged - and unfit for walking.

One in three older people tell Living Streets that potholed and cracked pavements prevent them walking. The problem also affects young children and disabled people.

Add the costs to councils of people tripping and falliing on unfit pavements, there's a clear need for a pedestrian fightback.

Write to your Highways Authority

Our #nine90 campaign is about making streets for all ages, designed for people aged nine years old and 90 years old.

Highways authorities are not spending enough on pavements. Roads continue to get priority while pedestrians run the gauntlet of neglected pavements.

Sound familiar? Use this simple form to call on your local highways authority (most likely your local council) to ensure pavements get their fair share of maintenance spending.
