Access for All: Request a Meeting
Support JDRF’s #AccessForAll campaign by sending a meeting request to your provincial or terrritorial representative TODAY. Explain how advanced glucose monitoring devices are life-changing for those with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and why it’s important provincial and territorial governments make them affordable and help reduce out-of-pocket costs for their constituents.
Meeting with a passionate JDRF advocate about the lived experience of children and adults with T1D can have an enormous impact on an elected politician and help influence public policy and budget decisions.
It’s important for our political representatives to understand that continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and flash glucose monitoring (FGM) devices are life-changing technologies that help people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) achieve healthier overall blood sugar numbers by taking the guesswork out of blood sugar management.
Evidence shows that use of these devices helps lower blood glucose (HbA1C) and helps users spend more time in target range. This means fewer incidences of life-threatening lows (hypoglycemia) or highs (hyperglycemia) which keeps people healthy and out of the hospital and significantly reduces the probability of long-term complications such heart attack, stroke and nerve damage. These long term complications are extremely costly to taxpayers.
