Awad faces harassment and threats for her human rights activism.
Her face is obscured here for her safety. Awad is the founder of Sudanese Women Human Rights Project and is currently a refugee from Sudan seeking resettlement to the US She is stuck in a seemingly endless limbo in Cairo.
While in Cairo she continues to support human rights in Sudan. She has been harassed by Sudanese officials and Egypt has threatened to deport her because of this human rights work. She registered as a refugee with the UN High Commission for Human rights in 2013 and her case is still being processed by the US, 5 years later.
Awad is one of many people facing danger or persecution whose only chance at long-term safety is resettlement to a safe third country. The Trump adminstration's policies of targeting refugees, particularly Muslim refugees, jeopardize the safety and security of people like Awad.
Tell the US to allow Awad to resettle to safety now!
