Charities provide an invaluable service for Canadians by advocating for our better policies to help protect our environment, health and social justice. Charities voice the concerns of Canadians.
But the rules around what charities can and cannot do are open to abuse. The former federal government launched costly and harassing audits of charities whose views the government disagreed with. If the rules aren’t reformed, this could happen again.
Despite promising to act, the current Federal government still has not moved to reform the outdated charities law. Charities are still at risk from intrusive and harassing actions aimed at stopping them from speaking out on important issues like climate change and human rights.
Send a letter to the Prime Minister and your Member of Parliament to tell them to create a new law to protect charities and free speech today.
