2018 is a critical year for the laws that protect Canada’s nature. Your voice is really needed.
The federal government just introduced several draft laws into Parliament that could reverse the decline of Canada’s endangered species by supporting truly sustainable development.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to restore and strengthen legal protections that were eliminated or weakened by the previous government.
While many provisions in these draft laws are good, amendments are needed. Already, industry is lobbying hard for business as usual.
The Prime Minister and your local Member of Parliament need to hear that people support bolder laws to protect nature. Please join thousands of other Canadians using their voice to tell Parliamentarians to improve our environmental laws and stand up to industry lobbyists.

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau:
As Parliament begins to rewrite Canada’s laws on environmental assessment, pipeline regulation and protection of fish habitat and navigable waterways – I am adding my voice to thousands of others who want stronger protections for nature.
Canada is currently on the wrong path. Fifty percent of Canada’s wildlife species are in decline. Unsustainable development projects continue to be approved. Our environmental laws should not allow this.
The draft laws are a good first step, but don’t go far enough to reverse biodiversity loss and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
We therefore urge you to take this once-in-a-generation opportunity to make further improvements to get the laws right!
