2018 is a critical year for the laws that protect Canada’s nature. Your voice is really needed.

Right now Parliament has begun to rewrite several environmental laws that could reverse the decline of Canada’s endangered species by supporting truly sustainable development.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to restore and strengthen legal protections that were eliminated or weakened by the previous government.

But industry will lobby hard to weaken any reforms to allow for business as usual.  Nature Canada is convinced that business as usual is not an option, that stronger environmental laws can protect Canada’s natural heritage as well spur sustainable development.

The Prime Minister and your local Member of Parliament need to hear that people support bolder laws to protect nature. Please join thousands of other Canadians using their voice to tell Parliament to stand up to industry lobbyists and enact strong environmental laws.

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau:

As Parliament begins to rewrite Canada’s laws on all environmental assessment, pipeline regulation and protection of fish habitat and navigable waterways – I am adding my voice to thousands of others who want stronger protections for nature.

Canada is currently on the wrong path. Fifty percent of Canada’s wildlife species are in decline. Unsustainable development projects continue to be approved. Our environmental laws should not allow this.

These environmental law reforms are a once-in-a-generation opportunity to turn things around and stand up for Canadian nature. Please resist the industry lobbying that would have us miss this opportunity.
