Canada’s woodland caribou need your help. Their habitat is disappearing, leaving them increasingly vulnerable to predators, climate change and hunger.
Scientists have listed these caribou as nationally threatened, and critically endangered in some regions of the country where only a handful of individuals are left in the herd. With careful planning that involves the use of sustainable solutions, we can ensure that caribou have the space they need to survive.
Canada’s Boreal forest contains some of the last large expanses of caribou habitat – old growth forests and peatlands. We have the opportunity and responsibility to maintain these ecosystems for caribou and for future generations.
Take Action - Join CPAWS and over 230,000 caribou supporters in asking Canada’s governments to do their part to protect the caribou’s home. Protecting caribou habitat benefits people by protecting the water that flows to our cities, improving the quality of the air we breathe and helping to reduce the impacts of climate change.
We’ll keep you updated on the latest caribou news, and let you know how you can help protect caribou in your province or territory.
Can the caribou count on you?
I support protecting Canada's threatened woodland caribou and their forest habitat, and I urge my government to take immediate action to protect the caribou's remaining critical habitat. By signing this pledge, I consent to receiving email updates on CPAWS' caribou and conservation efforts. |
