Hello ,

We’ve just revealed that DRC’s ex-Environment Minister, Robert Bopolo Mbongeza, granted two new illegal logging licenses in September 2016. One to an adviser to President Joseph Kabila and a second one to a member of parliament - both totalling a huge 4,000 km2MAP_Moratorium on the allocation of new logging concessions in the DRC

That same year, in October, the DRC government received the first $40 million disbursement of a $200 million pledge from Norway’s Climate and Environment Minister from the Central African Forest Initiative. This money is meant to protect the Congo forest, but CAFI kept silent while these illegal transactions took place.

These events clearly show that the Congolese government’s intends to secure CAFI's financial support while completely disregarding the moratorium on industrial logging activities. Join the call to zero deforestation:

Sign the petition to protect the Congo Basin forest!

To ensure accountability, Greenpeace demands a suspension of the entire CAFI program until a thorough revision of its overall approach is carried out to ensure donor money is not wasted.

We need your help to protect the Congo forest; the world's second largest rainforest; home to forest elephants, gorillas, bonobos, okapis and many other critically endangered species. Sign this petition now to say NO to deforestation!
