Big Brothers Big Sisters

POTENTIAL. EMPOWERED.

Their JOY is contagious! Playing a game of Operation together usually errupts into endless laughter between Sam and his Little Brother Jacobi. It's just that simple. When Sam spends just an hour with him every week, he becomes Jacobi's person. The one he depends on to be there, to listen to him and guide him, and be a positive role model. Just being a friend IGNITES a child's greatest potential. The result? Jacobi has greater self-confidence, does better in school, avoids risky behaviors and has greater aspirations.

"It is so rewarding to see how happy he is when we spend time together," says Sam. "And since he’s known me, he’s talking more and more about going to college one day.”

When you give a gift to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine, you change lives, like Sam’s and Jacobi’s, for the better, forever. Together we can instill confidence, inspire hope and empower children.  They have the potential to change the world.

Will you stand with them?

VOLUNTEER!

We are in urgent need of adult volunteers to be School-Based Coordinators. If you live in the Skowhegan, Rockland or Winterport area and have just 60 to 90 minutes a week to share with some inspiring high school mentors and their Littles, this is your BIG opportunity to ignite potential in your community! Coordinators are screened, trained and supported as they oversee matches at one of our school programs on the same day and time, once a week, throughout the academic year. It's fun, personally rewarding and a special way to have a big impact on local youth. One of our long-time volunteers says being a coordinator "is the most rewarding work I've ever done." It could be yours too!
