Dear Friend,

PETA entities conduct more investigations than any other animal protection group – exposing cruelty and leading to dramatic changes that can result in progress for animals years after they initially hit the headlines.

A first-of-its-kind PETA exposé last year blew the lid off the violent abuse of alpacas at a farm owned by the world’s largest exporter of alpaca garments and yarn. The footage from that landmark exposé is still helping us persuade major retailers like UNIQLO and luxury brands like Valentino – as well as Ascena Retail Group, Victoria’s Secret, Express, and Schuh owner Genesco in the last year alone – to turn their backs on alpaca fleece.

PETA entities have also made tremendous progress for monkeys, thanks to another eye-opening exposé that showed millions of people the chaining and abuse of captive monkeys forced to toil in Thailand’s coconut industry. To date, more than 30,000 global outlets have stopped selling Chaokoh coconut milk, a product of monkey labour – and recently, Umamicart became the first Asian retailer to make this compassionate decision.

When PETA Asia released horrifying footage this spring of snakes being inflated to death and crocodiles being crudely electroshocked for “luxury” exotic-skin accessories, activists around the world jumped into action for reptiles – online and on the streets. Costumed “crocodiles” crawled to the storefronts of luxury brands like Hermès – and to Paris Fashion Week! – protesting the violence inherent in the global exotic-skins trade.

After PETA UK released a shocking exposé documenting dismal conditions, mutilations, and corpses left to rot among living hens at farms supplying the Happy Egg Co, we urged authorities to hold the company accountable for misleading consumers about its treatment of hens. We’re making progress and showing diners that the only truly humane label is “vegan”: upon hearing from over 13,000 PETA supporters, community running group parkrun ended its sponsorship deal with the Happy Egg Co.

Thank you for powering PETA’s work to spare animals abuse and make the world a kinder place.

Very truly yours,

Mimi Bekhechi

PETA ‘Rat’ Offers Face Masks on University Campuses

As COVID-19 cases began to rise again, the government advised that university students and staff wear masks on campus – and PETA was there to help. Our giant “rat” handed out masks showing a rat subjected to the forced swim test and taking jabs at the University of Bath and the University of Bristol for refusing to ban this vile experiment.

Oreo

When a Snapchat user called the PETA US 24-hour emergency hotline after seeing a disturbing video of a teen beating a cat, that provided authorities with the vital evidence they needed to open a criminal investigation, and as a result, Oreo was seized and rushed to a veterinarian. Once he got a clean bill of health, he was signed over to PETA US staff members, who took him on a road trip back to Virginia to start his new life. Today, the only sign of his painful past is his permanently disfigured ear. The handsome, gregarious cat now eagerly chirps for cuddles with his adoring adopter and contentedly snoozes with his feline friend Gracie atop their cat tree.
