6 highlights from the choose the world you want festival

From interactive chats with Fairtrade farmers to baking masterclasses, the Choose The World You Want festival has a bit of everything. And every single event celebrates how choosing Fairtrade means more money and more power for farmers taking on the climate crisis. There will be dozens of diverse events across Fairtrade Fortnight (21 February – 6 March).

But we've picked out six must-see festival highlights. To sign up, just tick the 'I'm interested in this' box below each event and we'll send the joining details after you complete this page.

Meet the Fairtrade farmers taking on the climate crisis

What's happening: Kick off Fairtrade Fortnight in style as we meet Bismark (pictured) and Hugo, Fairtrade farmers using their expertise and the power of Fairtrade to tackle climate change. Fairtrade Foundation CEO Mike Gidney will put your questions to Bismark, a cocoa farmer in Ghana, and Hugo, a coffee farmer in Peru. Add your question now as you sign up.

Film screening and Q & A - Farmers Fighting the Climate Crisis

What's happening: Actor, director and Fairtrade Foundation patron Adjoa Andoh hosts this very special screening of Farmers, The Documentary, which focuses on how the climate crisis puts extra pressure on the farmers and workers behind our food and goods. Star of the docuseries Caroline, a coffee farmer from Kenya, joins live to answer your questions alongside Bernard Njoroge, a climate change expert from Fairtrade Africa.

Date and time: Monday 21 February, 7:00pm UK time

The Unfair Climate Crisis

What's happening: The climate crisis affects us all. But not equally. During The Unfair Climate Crisis, we explore the ways deep-seated global inequalities place the burden of dealing with climate change on those who did the least to cause the climate emergency.

Joining us will be musician and climate activist Louis VI,  Mithika Mwenda from the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance and Namrata Chowdhary from global grassroots climate justice network 350.org.

Date and time: Wednesday 2 March, 6:00pm UK time

Education for climate justice

What's happening: Young children entering school around the world right now will face real challenges due to climate change. So at this event we ask: how can we support the next generation to understand climate justice? CEO of sustainable energy charity Ashden, and former Fairtrade Foundation CEO, Harriet Lamb is just one of the expert speakers joining us.

Date: Wednesday 23 February, 4pm UK time

Baking Masterclass with Sandy Docherty

What's happening: Great British Bake Off star, and Fairtrade champion, Sandy Docherty shows us how to make a delicious York Tart. Making use of all the Fairtrade ingredients you'd expect, and a few that might surprise you! Organised by Fairtrade National Campaigner Committee Chair Joanna Pollard. Look out for many more campaigner organised events across the UK.

Date and time: Thursday 3 March, 6:00pm UK time

Show the love for the world you want

What's happening: Find new crafty and creative ways to get politicians in your area on side, in this workshop with the Climate Coalition. Craft a special 'green heart' asking your MP to stand up for people and planet, or join other campaigners to share ideas on ways to spice up your letters to your MPs.
