Systems Mapping with Fairtrade – Lesson plan

This lesson for KS3/KS4 students (or Third and Fourth level students in Scotland) introduces young people to the concept of systems thinking and the collective power we all have to make big changes to our way of life.

Through a system mapping activity, your pupil’s will deepen their understanding of the connections between individuals, communities, and governments; and how they can work together to create change.

Learning Objectives

  • Learners understand that the way in which we live is a system – made up of individuals, organisations, and governments – and that our actions are interconnected.
  • Learners can describe the role of individuals, businesses, and governments in creating systemic change.
  • Learners can demonstrate how they can contribute to collective action for a fairer future.
