My wife was being treated for myeloma. It was a 70 mile round trip and then about £40 a week in parking charges. Prices weren’t on display, you only found out when you went out through the exit barrier. I later learnt from another carer that I could have paid a reduced rate, but no one told me about this.

The most widespread cost facing cancer patients is the cost of travel to and parking at hospital.
We want hospitals in England to come into line with the rest of the UK and provide free parking at hospitals for cancer patients. We are also calling for better promotion of existing concessions, so that people know if help is available.
Are you affected by high parking prices?
It wouldn't be so bad if the funds went towards hospitals and their upkeep but they usually go to private companies. No one should profit from people being ill.
