Access More of Your Countryside

It's nearly 10 years since the Ramblers successfully achieved its ambition to open up large areas of the countryside for walkers to enjoy. Under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act (CRoW) 2000 the public has a right to walk on 'access land' i.e. mapped areas of mountain, moor, heath, down and registered common land in England. Maps showing access land will soon be reviewed and we would like to find out what you think could be improved.

Access land provides significant public benefits, including more opportunities for recreation, better public understanding of the countryside, and greater income for rural areas through increased tourism. However the Ramblers believes that more access should have been granted, particularly in lowland areas. The Ramblers is also aware that the management of access land could be improved in some areas. For example, there are some isolated islands of access land which still can not legally be reached on foot.

Please answer the following questions, or as many/few that apply, to let us know what you think about access land.

Finally, please provide us with a few details about yourself. We will not pass them onto anyone else.
