Campaign for a ban on slaughter without stunning in Scotland
There are two things you can do to help ensure that animals will not be slaughtered without stunning.
NB - for people living in Scotland only. Please open the Scottish Government’s consultation
response form, follow the instructions and go to Consultation
Question 16: Do you have any other
suggestions for new national rules on non-stun slaughter for religious
purposes? (You can of course answer
any other questions in the consultation as well.)
We suggest that you respond as follows:
I believe that non-stun slaughter for
religious purposes should be banned outright in Scotland. There is overwhelming scientific evidence
that this manner of slaughter causes suffering to animals. Whilst I respect the right to religious freedom, I do not believe
this should extend to practices that inflict suffering on sentient animals.
Please complete the form below to let us know you have responded to the consultation.
