Urge Reinstatement of the IRA Rollover Provision
Please urge your Senators to pass the America Gives More Act of 2014 (H.R.4719). This bill would provide immediate relief to communities across America by permanently extending three expired charitable giving incentives, including the IRA Rollover provision. The House passed H.R. 4719 on July 17, 2014. The bill now awaits Senate action.
The IRA Rollover provision allows donors age 70½ and older to donate up to $100,000 from an Individual Retirement Account to a charity without receiving a tax penalty. Since being first approved in 2006, the IRA Rollover provision has expired—and been reinstated—several times. Charities have not been able to plan their fundraising with the IRA Rollover effectively, much less market this key charitable giving incentive, when it is constantly expiring and working on the premise that it will be reinstated and made retroactive.
AFP urges its members to educate their Members of Congress about the IRA Rollover and its potential positive impacts on charitable giving. Please fill out the below form to send a letter to your Senators of your state about this critical issue. A copy of the letter will be sent to your House member as well.
