Path or Access Land problem report form

Have you been on a walk in England or Wales recently and encountered an overgrown path, broken stile or have been stopped from using access land? Local highway authorities (County councils or unitary authorities) are responsible for resolving path and access problems; the Ramblers works to ensure that authorities resolve these issues. To find out more about rights of way and access issues and legal procedures please click here.

You can help resolve these sorts of problems in two simple steps:

1. Report the problem to the county council or unitary authority responsible for that area. You can find contact details for the relevant department here.

2. Complete the form below, we will then send this onto a local Ramblers volunteer who will investigate further, and may also report the problem to the correct council department.

If you would like to submit a form anonymously you can download the pdf version and post it back to us.

All fields marked with a * are mandatory.

Your Details

Please complete your contact details below, these will be stored against the problem details you provide. The volunteer who deals with your form will need this information in case they have to contact you for extra details of the issue, or to let you know when it has been resolved. Your contact details may also be passed on to the relevant council staff member so that they can also keep you up to date with the progress of your report.

Information about the problem encountered

Please provide as much information as possible about the problem you encountered. Approximate details are useful, but the more detail you can provide the more likely it is that the relevant volunteer will know the location you are describing.

This video explains how to establish an appropriate grid reference.
